Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives Educational Assistance — Ms. C. Saranya, Venkateswara Engineering College Project Overview The Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives extended a financial assistance of Rs. 25,000/- to Ms. C. Saranya, a Final Year B.E. student at Venkateswara Engineering College, as part of its broader Education Initiative. This project falls squarely within Rotary International's key focus area of Basic Education and Literacy, and reflects the club's unwavering commitment to empowering deserving students from economically weaker sections of society The assistance of Rs. 25,000/- would have directly addressed tuition/examination fees, project costs, or other academic expenditures, enabling Ms. Saranya to complete her engineering degree without financial distress This event happened during the installation of our Club President Dr. V Thiagarajan at BM Hospital, BM Arrangam, Nanganallur.

Project Category: Community Service (CSH) | Health & Wellness Theme: Create Lasting Impact Rotary Year: 2025–26 Overview The Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives, District 3233, has launched an ongoing weekly Health & Wellness initiative dedicated to senior citizens in and around Chennai. In partnership with BM Hospital, Nanganallur, the project provides affordable, comprehensive health screening for elderly members of the community — promoting early detection, preventive care, and well-being. Objective To make quality preventive healthcare accessible to senior citizens at a nominal cost, ensuring timely diagnosis of common age-related conditions such as cardiac irregularities, diabetes, and cholesterol-related issues. What We Offer A complete health screening package (valued at Rs. 3,000) made available to senior citizens at a registration fee of just Rs. 100. The package includes: Height, Weight & BMI assessment ECG (Electrocardiogram) Lipid Profile Blood Sugar (Fasting) Urea Schedule & Venue Frequency: Every Sunday Time: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM Venue: BM Hospital, 3rd Floor, 36-Fifth Main Road, Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur, Chennai – 600061 Registration Fee: Rs. 100 only Impact Through this sustained weekly drive, the club aims to reach hundreds of senior citizens over the Rotary year, helping families prioritize preventive health for their elders and reducing late-stage diagnosis of manageable conditions. Community Service Project 3 & 4: Bright Beginning – Let Us Spread Healthy Smiles The Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives organized two community service projects aimed at supporting the resident girl children at Anaikkum Karangal, located on Periar Street, Ullagaram, Chennai 600061. As part of this initiative, the club provided a nutritious breakfast to the children on two separate mornings — Project 3 on Saturday, 11 July 2026, and Project 4 on Tuesday, 14 July 2026 — both beginning at 7:30 AM. The drive was focused on nutrition and encouragement, ensuring the children started their day with a healthy meal and a sense of care from the community. This effort reflects the Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives' continued commitment to service above self, and its mission to create meaningful, positive change in the lives of underprivileged children. The club extends its gratitude to all members and volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make these projects a success, and looks forward to continuing similar impactful initiatives in the future.

Annadhaanam Project - Sairam Old Age Home Trust

The Annadhaanam Project of our club was successfully carried out at Sairam Old Age Home Trust, Thirumullaivoyal, in the presence of our esteemed members. President Dr. Thiagarajan, R. Seralathan, Director – Vocational Service, Vaishnavi, Director – Community Service Development, G. S. Suresh, Director – Community Service (Health), and our member Ezhilarasi Seralathan actively participated in the initiative. A special highlight of the occasion was the presence of Mrs. Nirmala Gopali, mother of Vaishnavi, who enthusiastically joined us in personally serving food to the residents, adding warmth and inspiration to the event. As part of our contribution, a cheque of ₹11,500 was handed over to the Trust representative towards sponsoring one day’s meal for the inmates of the Home. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to service and care for the elderly in our community.

Health Care Project and Speaker Meeting - Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives, under Rotary International District 3233, in association with BM Hospital, Nanganallur, proudly launched its First Weekly Meeting and First Health Project of Rotary Year 2026–27 on Sunday, 5 July 2026 at BM Arangam, BM Hospital, Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur.Project-1.jpg As part of this Health & Wellness Project, the club announced: Master Health Check-up for all Beehivians and their spouses. Special Health Check-up for senior citizens every Sunday from 08:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at a highly subsidised nominal registration cost of Rs. 100 (original cost Rs. 3,000), reaffirming Rotary’s commitment to affordable preventive healthcare for the community. The programme featured a key address by Dr. Tamizhselvan, Dean, Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Hospital and Director, District Community Services – Health, who spoke on the important topic “Oral Care and Oral Cancer”, emphasizing awareness, early detection and proper oral hygiene practices to safeguard community health. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Tamizhselvan and Guest of Honour Sri V. Rama Rao, President, Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations of Tamil Nadu, highlighting a strong partnership between Rotary, the medical fraternity and senior citizens’ organizations for sustained health initiatives. Under the leadership of Rtn Dr V. Thiagarajan (President), Rtn E. Selvamurugan (Director, Club Service), Rtn M. Harikrishnan (Secretary) and Rtn G. S. Suresh (Director, CSH), Rotary Club of Chennai Beehives has set a purposeful tone for the new Rotary year by focusing on community-centric health projects that truly embody the spirit of “Care for Your Health” and Rotary’s mission of service above self.
